What Does NHS Dentistry Cover?
The NHS provides access to essential dental care to help keep your mouth, teeth, and gums healthy. NHS treatment covers everything needed to restore your oral health — from preventative care to restorative treatments.
Treatments available through the NHS include:
- Routine check-ups and X-rays
- Fillings, extractions, and root canal treatments
- Crowns, bridges, and dentures
- Scale and polish (if clinically necessary)
- Emergency and urgent dental care
Your dentist will always recommend the most appropriate treatment for your needs, based on NHS clinical guidelines.
NHS Pricing Bands
What you pay will depend on the treatment that you have. Here is the basic NHS banding for dental treatment. Some people may be exempt from treatment and if that is true in your case, let our reception staff know.
Band One
Covers diagnosis, examination and advice. X-rays, if necessary and a scale and polish and any planning for ongoing treatment.
Band Two
This includes everything mentioned in Band 1 above as well as any additional care, such as fillings, root canals, or tooth extractions, if necessary.
Band Three
includes all the treatments in Bands 1 and 2 with other more complex treatments such as bridges, crowns and dentures.
